Be Grounded Counselling & Associates specializes in Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed approaches, and emotional regulation techniques. We help clients gain deeper awareness of their inner parts, restore balance, and strengthen their sense of autonomy. Vannie Lau

Vannie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia and an Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed therapist (Level 1 trained). She provides counselling services in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
Originally from Hong Kong, Vannie previously worked as a social justice lawyer, supporting individuals facing complex challenges and high levels of stress.
Through this experience, she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of emotional support and meaningful human connection. This ultimately led her to transition into counselling, where she now supports clients in navigating difficulties and reconnecting with their inner strength.
In her work, Vannie gently helps clients make sense of their feelings, understand how life experiences shape them, and find ways to live more authentically and peacefully. She often supports people with:

She brings over ten years of experience across acute care hospitals, psychiatric settings, and family counselling centres in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Canada.
Her therapeutic work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), where she works alongside individuals facing a range of mental health concerns. She helps clients deepen their understanding of the connection between physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. Through this process, she supports them in identifying and reshaping beliefs, shifting thinking patterns, and strengthening practical coping skills for lasting change.
